Understand Your SASSA SRD R370 Status Results

When you check your SRD status, you will get the status of your application outcome each month. The most important statuses are pending, approved, or declined. Below, we explain the meaning of each status, what to expect, and how to resolve problematic statuses like declined through the appeal process.

Status explanation with payment dates

Application Status Pending

SASSA usually processes applications on a month-to-month basis, with all applications starting with a pending status. Your status will remain as ‘pending’ until SASSA completes its monthly vetting and validation of income, as well as other factors that may affect your eligibility. After this process, SASSA will decide whether to approve or decline your application.

Application Status Approved

An approved application status means that you still qualify/are eligible for the SRD grant for the current month. Make sure that your banking details are up to date so that you can receive your R370 payments on time.

When Are Applications Approved?

SRD R370 applications are typically approved from the 18th of every month and finish before the 23rd for all applications. If your application is still pending even after the 23rd, please contact SASSA immediately to find out what the problem might be with your application.

What is an SRD Application Batch?

Applications are processed in batches of three, with the first batch processed during the 18th to 23rd application processing period. To find out which batch you fall into, monitor your applications on a monthly basis to identify a consistent pattern of processing.

Application Approved, But No Payment Date

If your application is approved but there is no payment date, please update your banking details as soon as possible to allow SASSA to process payments in time. After updating your banking details, if the problem persists, please contact SASSA at +27800601011 or find your locally relevant SASSA office contact information.

Application Declined

A declined application means that you are no longer eligible to receive the SRD grant. This is because SASSA has identified that you have started receiving income or that some information in your application was found to be incorrect or inconsistent with the data SASSA has in its syst

Why am I approved but I do not have a payment date?

You must update your banking details in order to receive your grant money in time and avoid disappointments. Click here to update your banking details, or update your banking details through the SRD website.

Please consider the following:

  1. If you have not provided SASSA with any banking details at all, please do so without delay by updating your bank details on the SASSA SRD website at srd.sassa.gov.za.
  2. If you requested SASSA to open a Postbank account for you, SASSA is unfortunately not in a position to do this anymore. It is recommended that you either open an account with Postbank yourself and provide SASSA with your Postbank banking details, or open an account with a different bank and provide SASSA with the details to ensure payment.

NB: If you do not fall within any of these categories but have been approved and still not paid, it is recommended that you contact the SASSA Customer Care Call Centre on 0800 60 10 11 for further assistance and investigation.
